Job Description: Supervisor – Soft Services & Sanitation
Role Overview The Supervisor of Soft Services & Sanitation is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of non-technical building services, with a heavy focus on hygiene, waste management, and aesthetic upkeep. You will lead a frontline team to ensure the facility remains pristine, compliant with health regulations, and welcoming for all occupants.
Key Responsibilities
• Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and schedule housekeeping, janitorial, and sanitation staff. Conduct daily tool-box talks to ensure safety and performance standards.
• Operational Excellence: Oversee daily cleaning schedules, periodic deep-cleaning projects, waste disposal (general and hazardous), and pest control services.
• Quality Assurance: Perform regular site inspections to ensure all areas meet the required Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Sanitation & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to health and safety protocols (COSHH, OSHA, or local equivalents). Manage the dilution and storage of chemicals safely.
• Inventory Management: Monitor the consumption of cleaning supplies and consumables. Initiate procurement requests to ensure zero downtime in service.
• Vendor Coordination: Liaise with third-party contractors for specialized services like landscaping, window cleaning, or laundry.
• Reporting: Maintain detailed logs of sanitation cycles, staff attendance, and incident reports for management review


## 1. Professional Experience & Education
• Education: A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Facilities Management, Public Health, or a related field.
• Proven Track Record: At least 3–5 years of experience in soft services (housekeeping, waste management, pest control), with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Industry Context: Previous experience in high-traffic or high-stakes environments (e.g., hospitals, 5-star hotels, food production facilities, or Grade-A commercial towers).
## 2. Technical Certifications & Knowledge
• Sanitation Standards: In-depth knowledge of color-coding systems for cleaning equipment to prevent cross-contamination.
• Chemical Safety: Certified knowledge of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) or MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) protocols.
• HACCP Awareness: (If in food/healthcare) Understanding of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points to ensure biological and chemical safety.
• Equipment Proficiency: Practical ability to operate and train others on industrial floor scrubbers, steam cleaners, and high-pressure washers.
## 3. Core Competencies
• Manpower Planning: Ability to create complex shift rosters, manage leave rotations, and handle surge-capacity cleaning during events or emergencies.
• Budgeting: Experience in tracking "Cost per Square Foot" and managing the inventory of consumables (soaps, paper products, chemicals) to minimize waste.
• Vendor Management: Experience supervising sub-contractors (e.g., specialized facade cleaners or waste haulers) to ensure they meet contract KPIs.
• Digital Literacy: Proficiency in using CAFM (Computer-Aided Facility Management) software or simple mobile reporting apps to track work orders.
## 4. Physical & Personal Attributes
• Detail Orientation: A "white-glove" mindset with the ability to spot minor deficiencies in cleanliness that others might miss.
• Physical Stamina: The role is active; the candidate must be able to walk large facility footprints and remain on their feet for the majority of the shift.
• Conflict Resolution: Strong interpersonal skills to manage a diverse frontline workforce and address occupant complaints with diplomacy.
