Job Description

ERA Projects is looking for an experienced Construction Cost Engineer with a strong background in building and construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for cost estimation, quantity take-offs, budgeting, cost monitoring, variations, and commercial cost control to ensure projects are delivered within approved budgets.

The role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to work closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, subcontractors, and suppliers. These responsibilities align with current Bahrain construction cost-control roles, which commonly cover BOQs, cost estimates, quotations, variations, valuations, and project cost monitoring.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate cost estimates, BOQs, quantity take-offs, and cost plans.
Review architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings and specifications.
Monitor project budgets, expenditures, commitments, and actual costs.
Analyze material prices, labor rates, equipment costs, and subcontractor quotations.
Prepare quotation comparison sheets and assist with supplier/subcontractor evaluations.
Monitor project costs against approved budgets and identify potential cost overruns.
Prepare and evaluate variations, change orders, and additional works.
Conduct site measurements and verify completed quantities.
Assist with interim valuations, payment applications, and final accounts.
Maintain accurate records of project costs, quantities, variations, and commercial documents.
Prepare monthly cost-control reports, forecasts, and cost reconciliation statements.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and support value-engineering initiatives.
Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, procurement, QS, accounts, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Assist with tendering, subcontract administration, and commercial documentation.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
3–7 years of relevant experience in construction cost control, quantity surveying, estimation, or commercial roles.
Strong construction background is required.
Experience with villa, residential, commercial, high-rise, or building construction projects is an advantage.
Strong knowledge of BOQs, quantity take-offs, estimation, cost control, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
Ability to accurately read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
Good understanding of construction materials, labor costs, subcontractor pricing, and local market rates.
Strong knowledge of MS Excel and cost-control/quantity-surveying software.
Knowledge of construction contracts and commercial procedures.
Strong analytical, numerical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Bahrain/GCC construction experience is highly preferred.
Must be currently available in Bahrain.
Immediate joiner is highly preferred.

Candidates with hands-on experience in Bahrain construction projects and strong exposure to cost estimation, quantity surveying, project budgeting, and commercial cost control will be given priority.
