Key Responsibilities of a Chief Accountant:
Financial Reporting:

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Ensure reports comply with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).

Budgeting and Forecasting:

Assist in the preparation of budgets.

Monitor actual performance vs. budget.

Provide financial forecasts and variance analysis.

Supervision & Team Management:

Manage the accounting team (e.g., accountants, clerks).

Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and reports.

Provide training and mentorship to accounting staff.

Audit & Compliance:

Coordinate internal and external audits.

Ensure compliance with local tax laws and financial regulations.

Prepare documentation for auditors.

Internal Controls:

Develop and maintain internal financial controls.

Identify areas for process improvement.

Tax Management:

Oversee tax calculations, filings, and payments.

Ensure timely and accurate compliance with tax authorities.

Cash Flow Management:

Monitor cash positions and working capital.

Manage bank relationships and transactions.

🎓 Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s is a plus).

CPA, ACCA, or CA qualification is often required or preferred.

Strong knowledge of accounting standards, tax laws, and financial systems.

Several years of accounting experience, including in supervisory roles.
