Job summary

Almoayyed Solar is looking for an Electrical Draftsman to prepare accurate, code-compliant electrical drawings for solar PV and related power systems, from tender through to as-built and handover.

Responsibilities

1. Prepare shop drawings, working drawings, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams and connection details for installation crews, in line with approved designs and project specifications.
2. Produce solar PV electrical drawings, including string layouts, DC and AC cable routing, inverter, combiner box and switchgear layouts, earthing and lightning protection.
3. Prepare cable schedules, cable tray and conduit routes, and termination details.
4. Coordinate with engineers to obtain and verify design data, and identify and resolve discrepancies and clashes before drawings are issued.
5. Coordinate with the civil draftsmen to keep drawing packages consistent and clash-free.
6. Update drawings per client and consultant comments, and maintain revision control, the drawing register and document numbering.
7. Support the preparation of technical submittals, including material approval documents and datasheets, so that they are complete and consistent with the drawings.
8. Assist in preparing compliance statements against project specifications and flag deviations to the engineer or Divisional Manager.
9. Carry out quantity take-offs and assist in preparing BOQs for project enquiries and tender technical proposals.
10. Liaise with the Sales and Projects teams on drawing clarifications, and support site surveys and measurement checks.
11. Prepare as-built drawings from site mark-ups and support handover documentation.
12. Maintain CAD standards, templates, symbol and block libraries and the drawing archive, with files backed up and retrievable.
13. Ensure drawings comply with international codes (IEC), utility requirements (such as EWA) and local authority regulations.
14. Comply with company QMS procedures, health and safety requirements and confidentiality of project information, and perform other tasks assigned by the Division Head.

Qualifications and experience

• Diploma or certificate in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Drafting or a related field (a bachelor’s degree is an advantage).
• 3 to 5 years of electrical drafting experience, preferably in solar PV, power distribution or MEP projects.
• GCC experience is preferred.

Skills

• Proficient in AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical (essential); Revit MEP or EPLAN is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of electrical symbols, schematics and drafting standards.
• Knowledge of solar PV system components and layouts.
• Working knowledge of MS Office.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Good written and spoken English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Familiarity with PVsyst or PV layout tools is a plus.
