Description

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and oversee Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) systems tailored to project requirements, company standards, and applicable local legislation.
Ensure effective application of safety management processes, including hazard identification, risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work systems.
Perform regular site safety inspections, internal compliance reviews, and safety briefings to promote continuous improvement in safety performance.
Identify, assess, and control construction-related risks such as excavation works, working at height, lifting operations, scaffolding, and temporary works.
Monitor and enforce compliance with HSE requirements among subcontractors, supervisory staff, and site personnel.
Lead the investigation of incidents, accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, ensuring timely reporting and implementation of preventive measures.
Maintain and update HSE documentation, including incident records, inspection reports, safety statistics, and training matrices.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site teams to integrate HSE controls into daily construction operations.
Verify proper selection, availability, and use of personal protective equipment, and ensure safety signs and warnings are clearly displayed.
Support emergency preparedness planning, conduct drills, and contribute to environmental protection and sustainability initiatives on site.
Education and Professional Experience

Diploma or degree in Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
Between three (3) and seven (7) years of practical experience in an HSE Engineer, Safety Engineer, or Safety Officer role within construction or building projects.
Holding a recognized professional HSE certification such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, OSHA, or an equivalent international qualification is mandatory.
Strong knowledge of local HSE legislation, international safety frameworks, and construction industry best practices.
Proven ability in managing HSE documentation, conducting audits, and coordinating with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
