Cost Controller – Job Role
Job Purpose

The Cost Controller is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and controlling project or company costs to ensure that financial objectives are achieved. They support management in budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and ensuring cost efficiency across operations.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, monitor, and maintain project and operational budgets.

Track actual costs against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances.

Develop cost control systems, procedures, and reports.

Provide regular cost analysis and financial reporting to management.

Work closely with project managers, procurement, and finance teams to control expenses.

Review supplier contracts, purchase orders, and invoices for cost accuracy.

Ensure compliance with company financial policies and internal controls.

Assist in preparing cash flow forecasts and cost-to-complete reports.

Recommend cost-saving initiatives and support efficiency improvements.

Support financial audits and provide required cost data.

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of cost control, budgeting, and financial analysis.

Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Excel.

Analytical and detail-oriented.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (professional certifications like CMA/CPA are an advantage).

Proven experience in cost control, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or project-based industries.

3–5 years of relevant work experience.
