This includes tasks like routine maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues, providing estimates, and interacting with customers.
Specific Responsibilities:
Diagnosis and Repair:
Mechanics are responsible for diagnosing vehicle problems using various tools and techniques, including computerized diagnostics, and then repairing or replacing faulty parts.
Routine Maintenance:
This includes tasks like oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and brake inspections.
Customer Service:
Mechanics communicate with customers about their vehicle's issues, provide explanations, and answer questions.
Estimates and Quotes:
They prepare cost estimates and provide quotes for repairs, explaining the process and necessary work.
Record Keeping:
Mechanics maintain service records and document repairs.
Safety:
They ensure a safe work environment for themselves and other employees by using equipment properly and maintaining a clean workspace.
Inventory Management:
Some mechanics may also be involved in managing spare parts inventory.
Training and Development:
New mechanics may be trained on new technologies and procedures, and experienced mechanics may train new hires.
Supervision (for managers):
