Job Summary:
The Building Materials Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring construction materials and supplies in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet project requirements. The role involves coordinating with suppliers, project managers, and site engineers to ensure materials meet specifications, budgets, and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
Identify and evaluate suppliers of construction materials and negotiate terms of purchase including pricing, quality standards, delivery timelines, and payment terms.

Prepare and issue purchase orders based on project material requirements and schedules.

Monitor inventory levels and coordinate deliveries to avoid shortages or excess stock.

Ensure all purchased materials meet project specifications and quality standards.

Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.

Collaborate closely with site teams, engineers, and project managers to forecast material needs.

Track and resolve issues related to delivery delays, non-compliance, or damaged goods.

Analyze market trends and pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities.

Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and relevant regulations.

Build and maintain strong relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors.

Requirements:
Proven experience as a purchaser, procurement officer, or similar role in the construction industry.

Strong knowledge of building materials and construction processes.

Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

Strong analytical and organizational abilities.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with local building material suppliers.

Understanding of construction timelines and budgeting.
